I'm Mean Gene "The Sports Machine", the creator of Sports Kings here in Dallas Texas. If you're a sports fan like me, you've probably dreamed of having your own forum in which you could talk all the sports trash imaginable. Well, that's what we have here in Dallas, a unique brand of sports talk that's not compared to anything you're use to hearing on the airwaves. I have been in radio for about 8 years now, graduated from broadcasting school in 1985, it was 15 years before I realized that I still had what it took to create, produce and market my own brand of sports talk entertainment.
Thanks to a few friends in Los Angeles, Rob Buska, Denny Sharma, Ronnie Brooks, Fred Favors and Paul Cordova, not to mention KLTH AM 1240, KWRM AM 1370 and KRLA AM 870, my dream of hosting my own talk show finally came true.
I have been very fortunate during my lifetime to have witnessed 4 Superbowls, 2 World Series and a ton of exciting professional sports moments. Many of these I will be able to tell my grandkids about and most of them I will talk about forever,,like the 1989 World Series that was cut short by a 7.0 earthquake, of all the places I could have been that day,,why San Francisco's Candlestick Park?
During the last 8 years, I have enjoyed the pleasure of meeting ,talking or interviewing the likes of Chick Hearn (the Lakers play by play announcer of over 40 years (who has since passed away), Tommy Lasorda, Kobe Bryant, Phil Jackson, Jim Edmonds, Evander Holyfield, Christian Okoye, UCLA Football Bruins, USC Trojans, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, George Karl, HBO's Larry Merchant, Shane Mosley, Michael Irvin, Oakland Raiders, Detroit Lions, Chicago White Sox players and coaches and too many more to mention on this page.
The Sports Kings are no different than any other sports talk show you listen to. We have a passion for what we do and most of all, we're fans just like you. With the addition of Randy Shortnacy and Rod Johnson, both local Dallas Texans, we welcome you to our site.
