However with summer here that can only mean that the Class of 2009 is already beginning to make waves with oral commitments. Arlington Bowie's Christian Matthews and Dexter Linton confirmed they have orally committed to play football for Kansas.
Matthews (6-2, 185), one of the area's top quarterbacks, chose Kansas over Louisville and Tulsa. Linton (6-0, 185), a safety, chose Kansas over Nebraska, Louisville and Purdue. Matthews threw for 2,786 yards and 25 touchdowns and led Bowie to the 5A Division I Region I finals. Matthews and Linton are expected to join several other area players at Kansas, including Euless Trinity DB Prinz Kande and LB Earnest Norman and Flower Mound OL Ty Clou.
